Amidst a flurry of cotton candy, lollipops and sugar tarts, young Austrian fashion designer Martina Rastinger presented her label’s „SO LCH LD“ new Spring-Summer Collection for the year 2014 at the Ringstrassen Gallerien in the heart of Vienna to a crowd of appreciative fashion lovers.
Her fashion is a tribute to retro chic, with strong southeast asian influences. This becomes most apparent in her usage of fabrics that are exclusively imported from the far east. Compared to her previous collection entitled „Sakura Cherry Blossom“, the current set radiates far more european bohemé, showcasing simple yet effective cuts and a great love for detail. The pieces are all individually styled and a testament to the terrific craftsmanship at work here.
The biggest news is the inclusion of a Male collection into the previously all-female label. Classic Suit cuts kept in pastel colors feel like a welcome addition and add variety and spice into Rastinger’s craft. The male garments especially stand in contrast to their female counterparts due to the choice of color! The girls are treated to variations of pink, créme and mint-green looks.
The small but exclusive collection for Spring/Summer 14 is based on the colorful Asian lifestyle in combination with the recurring theme of Austrian „Mariandl“ of the 1950´s. These combinations reflect the idea of the SO LCH LD label, in which the U and the I are missing to symbolize the reunion of two different sides. SO LCH LD CLOTHING lives “La vie en rose” – paired with amorousness with details, individualism, and cosmopolitan attitudes.
The show was opened by Big John Whitfield who easily got the crowd going with his renditions of famous soul music classics. The well presented stage in an unlikely location then became the runway for a slew of attractive models that presented the new SO LCH LD collection with poise and grace. The presentation itself was top-notch and went off without a hitch, professionally done through and through.
We look forward to what the future holds for this particular soulchild, now excuse me while I got get some more cotton candy.
